Tre'von Waters is an artist who is from Newport News, VA. I've been knowing Tre since FOREVER, we go way back to middle/ high school. Ever since then, this guy has been talented. If you didn't know, Tre'von is a part of a music group called nextdowntown who has an EP that's out called Juliet that is out right now on Apple Music, Spotify, and many more.

KLVO: When did you start singing, who are your influences?
TRE: I’ve been singing pretty much my whole life. None of my family pursued music for a living or played instruments but my mom was heavy into music so i grew up on 90’s and early 2000’s r&b. A wide range from R. Kelly, Dru Hill, Mary J, Ashanti, Usher & Pharrell all the way up to NeYo, Chris Brown & Trey Songz.
KLVO: As an artist, what are the pros and cons of creating your own vibe?
"I think there is an art to finding ur own sound. I always knew that i could sing & entertain a crowd, but had no idea what that meant for my future. It took some time for me to actually develop as an artist and create something 100% authentic to me."
TRE (CONT.): I started off as a songwriter and kind of pieced my sound together from writing for others. Then I joined a guy group around 2017 so that became my focus. I’m still kind of figuring out my own vibe. You can’t force that kind of thing It takes actual time and experience.

KLVO: What are *some major highlights of your career?
TRE: As I mentioned before I joined a guy group. We go by NTD and the story behind that is so random lol. I never imagined being in a 5 guy group but it’s honestly one of the best experiences I’ve had in my life. We all sing lead, and everyone can sing their asses off! We’ve toured all over the country, performed in front of thousands of screaming girls, and sang for some household names like Boys ii Men, Mariah Carey, The Jacksons, SWV, and so many more.
KLVO: How do you feel about music today vs the music back in the 90s and the 2000s?
TRE: Like us, music is constantly changing and evolving. The ’90s and 2000s music literally raised me and will always be a part of me. I also really fuck with today’s sound! It’s so diverse and unique. I feel like there’s a lane for pretty much everyone now. I enjoy using older melodies and samples and merging it with today’s sound so in a sense I’m a huge fan of both.
KLVO: In the future, who do you wanna work with?
TRE: You know I’m from VA so a goal of mine is to collaborate with as many Virginia artists as i can. There’s just something about how we move. I’m constantly inspired by Pharrell, Timbaland, & Chris Brown so those my top 3 for sure!

KLVO: Do you have anything coming for us?
TRE: Of course! NTD has music dropping really soon so be on the lookout for that! In the meantime, u can download & stream our EP “Juliet” available everywhere. I’ve also been writing for some amazing artists that are dropping soon so look out for that as well! Thank u for supporting and i can’t wait for u to hear this music.
