Stacy or STXXY is one of the coolest, dopest photographers I know in VA. When you think of him, you automatically think of angles for sure. Not only this man is good with the camera, but he is good at shooting certain angles.

KLVO: How old were you when you grabbed a camera?

STXXY: I was young tbh. My parents would get the little disposable cameras from the store and take pictures at family cookouts or even around the house. I’d always somehow get my hands on them and take pictures and my parents wouldn’t know until they got the photos back. But I picked up my own camera when I was 19 years old and haven’t put it down since! Shit saved my life if you ask me..

KLVO: Who’s your favorite photographer?

STXXY: my favorite photographer(s) as in today’s time is between Vuhlandes and Samuel Elkins. Simply because I love how they just shoot whatever is around and what looks nice to them.

KLVO: Would you shoot for magazines? If so then who?

STXXY: I would loooooove to shoot for Essence mag, Ebony, and probably Vogue if they had a complete mag for just black people from different walks of life in their best fits! But all in all I rather someone do a magazine on a pure black lifestyle cause I can turn that up for a fact!

KLVO: What are the things that you struggled with as a photographer?

STXXY: As a photographer, I can say I used to get really discouraged because i felt like not enough people can see my work and don’t really see my work for what it actually is. I’ve gotten over it now, so I just do my thing. They see me when they see me, honestly

KLVO: What’s your favorite lens to use?

STXXY: My favorite lens is the Sigma 24mm F1.4! I simply love that lens because it’s wide, versatile, and you can isolate your subjects really well. I used to dream of having that lens and now I finally have it. I could honestly use it forever and if I had to, I’d buy another one without second-guessing.

KLVO: Coming from VA, we got so many creatives and more, what do you want to see more from us fellow Virginians?

STXXY: I would love to see more unity! We have so much amazing talent here, but in certain fields, ni***s be so caught up in being better than the next individual. I mean, it’s okay to an extent.

But at the same time, it’d be 10x better to come together and make something amazing! That’s all we need! These people are f**king amazing out here!
