NEW JERSEY, NEW YORK AREA

MR. SOC (Splash of Class) is my mentor, a director himself, and many more. Upcoming in the fashion industry, you might see him styling for your favorite models including the Clermount Twins, Im not only happy to interview this person, but I am also glad that I worked with him for 6+ years.
I’m Samuel Polley, also known as Mr.SOC — New Jersey bred, graduate of Johnson & Wales University - Charlotte. Currently a Visual Director and PR; I style, organize, coordinate, curate, etc. in a nutshell. I take pride in connecting the dots within industries.
KLVO: What does it takes to be a stylist?
SOC: For me, the ability to legit “just do it!” As cliche as it sounds,
it’s so true! The moment I thought about it, I just did it but over the years, my skills has evolved! I didn’t know about pulling, the importance of fashion shows (in regards to styling), etc. in the beginning. All I knew was that I wanted to dress my canvases. For any profession: if you want it, then go get it! Educate yourself and be consistent!
KLVO: Where did Mr. SOC come from?
SOC: Mr.SOC derived from my clothing brand that I had in high school: SOC Threads. The brand then transformed to SOC, and then finally Mr.SOC, short for Splash of Class. I wanted a name that represented me and also something that literally exemplifies what I offer.
KLVO: Explain your art of styling; what are your go-to fabrics and how m

any colors can you combine in one outfit?
SOC: When it comes to styling, I’m actually huge on color blocking. I enjoy the contrast of bold colors, textures and more. I’m a very simplistic person, so when I style I t
ry to add just a Splash of Class but also keep the objective in mind; all of course depending on the gig.
KLVO: Which fashion show would you want to watch if you are sitting in the front row?
⁃ As of late, I’d love to sit front row of Jacquemus. I really love their use of patterns, colors and silhouettes. Their brand identity is definitely one I appreciate as of late; trendy, but true to their look!

KLVO: Who are you inspired by and why?
SOC: I draw my inspiration from literally everything, not necessarily limited to a person — from the sky, to traveling, to architecture, to interaction, random street style and more. I do admire a couple stylists though. Two of my favorite stylists are Ugo Mozie and Zoe Costello — their work is phenomenal; diverse, tasteful, and clean. KLVO: What are the important pieces of an outfit?
SOC: I personally feel as though, I each piece of the look is just as important as the other. From the top, to the shoes and to the accessories — they’re all significant! Each article has its own peculiar job! Make sure you guys follow/ buy merchandise from MR.SOC:
